A 'Whoa' Moment

Okay I know in my last post I was quite clear on my opinions as to why Criminal Minds rocks.

But today I had an epiphany; for some reason most of my epiphanies occur in the shower but that's besides the point. Anyway, I remembered this episode and this particular clip that I found pretty interesting. Check it out, please. And yes there is a point to this.

Interesting right? We start to make our musical choices at the age of 14 and somehow no music impacts us the same way at any other age. I didn't think anything of it at the time because I don't know if it's true. I mean, hell if I can remember what the hell I listened to when I was 14, right? But today I came to a startling realisation that definitely turned me into a believer. Now I was 14 in the year 2004. And NO it wasn't that long ago. You will never, ever, ever in a million years believe whose album came out in February that year.

JC Chasez. And if you're thinking, oh is this that guy from NSync that this stupid girl keeps going on and on about, then the answer would be yes, the very same. His one and only solo album was released in 2004. When I was 14. And I'm still crazy about him.

Mindfucked.

An Addict's Confession: It's So Good, It's Criminal

I. Love. Criminal. Minds.

Criminal Minds is an awesome show. It's not your run of the mill crime fighting series. I just find what they do so fascinating.

So instead of the usual motive and opportunity thing that cops do, the team studies the behaviour of criminals, mostly serial killers. It's called profiling. But in the show they also study behaviour in kidnappings, hostage situations, basically any kind of bad guy. And an awesome team they are :) They're part of a branch of the FBI and they solve cases all over the country; there was even one case where they went to Mexico. So yeah, they're a big deal.

I like the current team better than the original team though. The old team had this irritating, 'I'm so hot' kinda woman called Elle. She's so unimportant I even forgot her last name. Hang on, hang on, I'm IMDB-ing. Ah here we are, Elle Greenaway. She was played by Lola Glaudini. But yeah, she was annoying.

Yeah, yeah she's kinda hot. But she annoyed the crap outta me. It didn't help her cause that her replacement is so much awesomer than she was.

The other former team member was their leader Jason Gideon. He was pretty all right, but he could be kinda scary and humourless at times. He left in one of the earlier seasons after his life got pretty freaky from all the serial killers they were chasing. He was played by Mandy Patinkin. I'll never get over that name. Mandy. Huh. You noticed that I said he was, well a 'he' right?

He was the sort of fatherly figure whenever they were questioning people and stuff. He was pretty likeable.

Anyway, let's get to the current team! :D

First of all, we have SSA Aaron Hotchner, the leader/boss man.

Oh I know he doesn't look like much, but start watching Criminal Minds and you'll fall madly in love with him. He's such a great boss but at the same time he's tough as nails on anyone on the outside. And he has a son who he's a complete softie with, which is so adorable. And he really, really takes care of his team, which is so hot. Aaron Hotchner will blow your freaking mind.

This video was when Hotch was testifying in court to an attorney who was quite doubtful of their whole 'studying behaviour' thing.

You go Hotch!! Anyway, his awesomeness aside, he also has a sense of humour that kinda hits you unawares. See what he had to say when one of his guys, Reid, gets a haircut.

Oh, Hotch. I just love you.

Okay, next we have SSA David Rossi, who's basically the 'mom' to Aaron Hotchner's 'dad'.

Just so you know, he's not as scary as he looks :) He joined the team when Gideon left. Or rejoined rather. He was one of the people who actually founded the BAU (that's the Behavioural Analysis Unit to all you Criminal Minds newbies) in the FBI. So anyway, he was a little annoying at first, not used to operating in a team and stuff. This is how he behaved in the earlier episodes when he first appeared.

Anyway, he turned into a big grandpa eventually. Now I actually kinda like him. He provides some humour from time to time too :)

LOL we'll get to the adorable know-it-all Dr. Reid now I guess.

Okay Dr. Spencer Reid.

Where do I begin? He's this genius with an IQ of 187 or something and he has an eidetic memory. He loves to spew out random facts about anything and everything and always has too much information and a serious case of verbal diarrhea. But he still manages to be totally adorable.

Okay look how smart he is. This is an episode where he has to crack a code in these letters that a bad guy in jail was sending to his girlfriend.

LOL he's so lifelike! And this one's funny too...

Gosh, I love Reid.

Oh and then comes the sexiest man on the team. SSA Derek Morgan *sigh*.

Isn't he gorgeous?? Is that explanation enough about why he's awesome? :D Aaanyway, Derek Morgan's the tough one in the team. He's all suave and to the point and...well he's hot. He was leader of the team for a while when Hotch was gone and he's so cool when he's all Alpha Male and stuff. But he's loyal to Hotch and to the team. So loyal that when he thought Prentiss, another member of the team, died, he hunted down her killer. Just because. Derek Morgan is awesome. And funny too. Him and Reid are absolutely hilarious together.

And as if that wasn't funny enough....

LOL

So next we have SSA Jennifer "JJ" Jareau.

Isn't she pretty??? Anyway she used to be the one who chose which cases they took and handled all their liaisons with all the different police departments and with the media, but as of Season 7 she became a full on profiler. She also started dating one of the police officers from one of their cases, who was kinda cute by the way, and eventually they had a baby. She's sort of a mom to Reid especially.

SEE, she's funny! Boys, behave or I will ground you both :p

And then there's my absolute favourite, SSA Emily Prentiss!!!

I just love Emily Prentiss. She's this ambassador's daughter so she's lived all over the world and is fluent in lots of languages. And she's that annoying Elle Greenaway's replacement. Sooo much awesomer than Elle fucking Greenaway. Anyway, I love how she's so sensible and she rarely gets weepy or emotional. She's pretty funny too, scroll back up to "he's so lifelike", would you? :) There are a few more where those came from...

Look at that smile at 0:57. *sigh*

And last but not lease we have the Technical Analyst (basically their computer superstar) Penelope Garcia! I love Garcia too, she's hilarious. She and Morgan have this flirty thing going on and GOD she's so lucky.

Oh and check out this video from 5:20, I think it's the funniest thing I've seen in the show. So at 5:20 you get to see how Morgan and Garcia usually talk right? Keep watching until Garcia gets on the phone again and see what happens :D

Oh yeah, it's pretty obvious you were expecting someone else Garcia :D

Oh and there's one more.

LOL what's it like at Kwan-tee-co?

There's a lot to love about Criminal Minds, folks.

But if you watch nothing else, just watch Season 7 Episode 9. The ending made me wanna cheer like I was at a sports event.

Oh that mock salute. This Josh Redding character made me swoon.

In conclusion, Criminal Minds just rocks to hell and back and all you people who don't watch it have no idea what you're missing out on.

And with that, I sign off. Cheers :)

A Lesson in English

Don't you hate it when rappers make you feel like you can barely speak English?

My Eminem phase has recently taken a turn for the worse lol. I can't help it okay? He's hot and he can rap.

 So yeah, you saw the speed of his part right? I thought that was the worst of it. Think again.

Check out Busta Rhymes. My tongue got twisted just listening to him.

Damn. I don't have a hope in hell of becoming a rapper.

An Act of Valor

Yesterday I went to watch an awesome movie with Shu. Check this out.

This movie had action sequences that had me talking guns and violence like a man. I walked out of that cinema talking about Navy SEAL tactics, something I never imagined I'd do. Not in this lifetime anyway.

This movie was seriously cool. I loved how simple and to the point it was. It's true that the acting had its drawbacks and that the characters weren't really fleshed out all that much, but that's what I meant about it being simple. There was not much drama, like how the bad guys' plan almost works but then the good guys come to the rescue at the very last second kinda thing. And you watched the trailer, how cool was it when the soldier's hands came out of the water to stop the bad guy from splashing into the river???

You'll have to watch the movie to understand how much the action sequences blasted my mind. So yeah, watch the movie!!

I also thought it was pretty awesome that they got actual active duty Navy SEALs to play the roles in the movie. They were completely and totally believable in action, even though their acting was a little stilted and awkward the rest of the time. But what the hell, it was just so cool that they were the real deal, not some actor who put on a shit load of muscle and tried to be all dark and brooding to play the 'type'.

The only ones who were kinda lame and left me and Shu laughing were the terrorists. They were so funny, the way they acted like gay lovers in the middle of a tiff.

But other than that, I fully and whole-heartedly recommend that you watch this movie. I know if you're a girl you're probably dismissing it as a total guy movie but hey, I almost dismissed it too. Truth be told, I only watched it because there was no other movie that was halfway decent playing. And I would have missed out on the awesomest stuff I've seen in a while.

So watch this movie. I'm sure you will not regret it. Even if you're a girl :)

A Friday's Worth of Emotion

Well nothing eventful to report today, so I thought I'd share this poem I wrote just last night :)

Outta My, Outta My

My palms start to sweat as all eyes land on me;
I wonder to appease them what I could possibly say.
I look away, take a breath, wipe my palms on tattered jeans;
Anything those hated words out loud to delay.

Hi, my name is Elle and I'm a....I let the words die;
I see their eyes turn from pity to scorn.
Did that guy just flinch? Did that kid just roll her eyes?
Someone whispered 'denial', a word I proudly adorn.

This was supposed to be a place where I could feel safe, free from judgement;
So much for partners in suffering.
I was supposed to find peace, sympathy, understanding, maybe love;
But from the riotous mocking voices there is no buffering.

I glare at the guy in front, I call him Pride;
He thinks resisting is good for his ego.
But pride goes before a fall, what happens when he's weak?
Will pride save him then and play the hero?

Greed sits in the middle, trying to avoid attention;
I know it's because he slipped up again.
He can never have enough, always wanting, always coveting;
Maybe he does it to ease a greater pain.

That poor girl, Anger, sitting alone, tormented by wrath;
Disbelief at what quitting has done to her.
She's been let down by what she considered a friend;
I think she's still waiting for apologies to woo her.

I feel sorriest for the flincher, whom I call Fear;
So afraid of what he'll become without it.
I wonder what it's like in his scary little world;
And I pray he'll make it out of his own dark pit.

Suddenly, as I blinked, I was left in an empty room;
Though I clearly heard their voices left behind.
What horribly dark personalities that influenced my every decision;
The frighteningly familiar voices that reside in my mind.

A Random Musing

Something about your lips
The way they curve into a smile
Something about your phone voice
Makes me wanna start to dial
Something about your gaze
The way your eyes they burn
There's just something about you babe
Something that makes me turn

A Quiet Wednesday At Home

You know what's shocking? I've actually been productive today!!

Wednesdays are usually my lazy day. Basically it means I do absolutely nothing but lie around wondering why I have so much free time. But today...today I took the Wednesday by its horns and decided to experiment with vegetarian food.

So I had a sudden craving for tomato rice and I have to say, mine didn't turn out bad at all. Joash even wanted to pack some and take...well somewhere. Whatever, the point is, he was actually willing to undergo the shame of carrying a tupperware everywhere (which is quite a blow to his reputation I assure you) just to eat my tomato rice. I'm so proud of myself :)

I've also fallen in love with this song, which in a very lame and sappy way makes me think of my friends. It's pretty cool, maybe I'll ask Joash to learn how to play it so I can sing along whenever he's jamming :)

Anyway I thought the rest of the day would be pretty uneventful but the weather had other plans. So the torrential rain of course was a source of wonder for me, cause it kinda makes my room feel like it got relocated to Cameron Highlands lol. So I left the windows open, waiting for the lovely cold air to come in, and instead I suddenly smell this horrible rubbish truck smell which was so familiar but I couldn't place it. It drove me crazy trying to place the stench (for about 7 seconds) then after that I just gave up. But my question was answered soon when my sister called me to tell me that it was flooding downstairs and the water had reached the cars.

My first thought of course was poor Max, whose engine was probably the most vulnerable out of all the cars there. So we all ran down and found the neighbours all standing around wondering what to do, wondering if our automatic gates (whose little black boxes were completely submerged, by the way) would still open, wondering why it only floods when all the men of the house are gone (all the men had some meetings or another in all the various churches so only the women and children were home), and pretty much just being women.

I took this photo after Joash had already gotten Max out, through knee high water. This is where we usually park Max, and this was after the water had already started to subside. I know, I know, a great photographer I am not :)

So yeah, Max is out safe and sound on elevated ground.

It was a little disgusting wading through dirty flood water, I do not plan on doing that again anytime soon. But other than that it was a Wednesday well spent. And since I'm too lazy to heat up my leftover tomato rice tomorrow morning, carry it to the LRT station, carry it on the train, carry it on the bus, walk with it to uni, and present it to either Shu or Larry, I guess the first person who visits me gets it :)

Let the race begin.

A Sneaky Surprise

You know what the surprise is? It's Lent again. Yes, already.

Ash Wednesday was about 3 weeks ago I think. So yes I'm smack in the middle of the Lent season, my not so favourite time of year lol. With much complaint and general whining about how much my life will suck without meat, I have gone veggie again. And I've also decided, since it's the only thing that's becoming an obsession with me, to give up drinking anything from Chatime and also anything that resembles it *sigh*. Larry was pushing hard for me to give up watching JC Chasez videos but other than my usual 'hell no, no freaking way, not again, no way in hell' responses, I think I'm not as obsessed with him anymore so that would have been kinda pointless. At least that's what I keep telling myself lol.

I think I'm doing pretty well so far. I have the most supportive friends when it comes to helping me to get food from the vegetarian shop (thanks Larry), or walking with me under the hot sun all the way to TBR from uni to the vegetarian shop (thanks Shu) and once, even bringing me vegetarian food from home (thanks again Larry :) ). So yeah it's been going well.

Oh and when I went for our Area Fellowship last Tuesday at Uncle Indra and Auntie Karen's house, Auntie Karen told us they were giving up alcohol for Lent which I thought was pretty awesome. So they made us awesome lattes instead; it was pretty cool.

I have also decided that I have way too much time on my hands these days cause I haven't been studying as much as I should. I mean, I finished reading THREE books in ONE AND A HALF DAYS. That IS pretty bad, I know. So yeah I should really take a dive into those TEXTbooks sometime soon.

Another piece of good news; I HAVE MY OWN ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, sis finally moved her stuff to Mom and Dad's room so I have my room all to myself :D It looks pretty awesome too. I'm still 'decorating' so to speak so we'll see how my new additions look soon. I'm still so excited about having my own room :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

And guess what? Every time I watch Glee now I'm just falling more and more in love with Chord Overstreet. He does the whole 'sad and brooding' thing so well *drool* See for yourself.

Yes, yes I know she has a great voice, but LOOK AT HIM BROODING! So cute. Soooo cute.

I should also probably mention that now that I have so much free time (well I shouldn't have free time but I do) I have decided that I should start paying my poor blog a little more attention. So hopefully that little mini resolution stays in mind :)

Anyway I think that's all I've been dying to share for now. Later all, and by later I mean soon :)

A Heartfelt, Post Traumatic Thank You

About five months ago, this album called Post Traumatic was released. Three months ago, I went to Bangkok to watch Mike Shinoda perform...
