A Forced Epiphany

I'm worried.

Apparently I have a type now.

So lately I've moved from my JC Chasez phase to a quite senseless Zayed Khan phase. Yes, I have been actually sitting and watching awful Hindi movies, believe it or not. It's been very entertaining. Obviously as soon as word got out, Shu and Dhinaa were the first to strenuously object. I was quick to point out to Shu that this was her chance to hear less about JC. But it's not like Zayed Khan's any better to hear about lol. At least his 'serious' Hindi movies were a great source of entertainment and a great reinforcement of why Hindi movies rock if you just wanna sit there and criticize something.

For example, check out this Hindi movie called Mission Istaanbul.

It looked so serious and it was about something sad so I thought that I was surely gonna end up bawling over my laptop at some point. Instead I spent the entire movie laughing. There are too many reasons why.

Reason #1

There was this one point when this girl, a stranger to the plot comes in and throws herself at the 'hero', Vikas. So she's drunk and she comes on to him and stuff and he tells her that he's married. Whatever. So when he leaves suddenly she becomes Miss Super Spy with this really stupid 'Bond girl' expression. She picks up her phone, and you know what she reports?

Vikas is still in love with his wife.

LOL. Way to ruin a Miss Super Spy moment.

Reason #2

Towards the middle of the movie, the 'hero' Vikas, Miss Super Spy and some other Cool Dude Wannabe are being chased by the bad guys intent on killing them and recovering this pendrive with incriminating information on the bad guys. So there's this car chase and all, whatever. Eventually they get away from the bad guys. Picture this, they stop the car at this harbour with lots of ships around with really intense, serious music in the background. Everyone's really tense, what with their being chased and people wanting them dead and all. So I'm thinking, okay they're getting out of the car to get on one of the ships to get the hell out of Istanbul to go back to India. And you know what they do?

They get out of the car to have a can of Mountain Dew.

LOL it was so out of the blue and so funny.

Reason #3

About a very long time into the movie, Miss Super Spy dies (thank goodness). And in her last dying moments, she tells the 'hero' and Cool Dude Wannabe to call her boss who'll get them to India, and to safety. So after they get the hell outta there, they're all sad and stressed out, wondering what to do. And the 'hero' calls Miss Super Spy's boss who asks them to meet him at a hotel. It's such a tense situation and suddenly...

There's a song.

LOL it came completely out of nowhere and had nothing to do with the situation. The first time I watched it I was stunned into silence and then I couldn't stop laughing. So halfway through the song I'm thinking, okay maybe the guy singing the song is Miss Super Spy's boss and this is how they're introducing him. But no, he had nothing to do with the situation whatsoever!!! LOL

Reason #4

At the very end of the movie, the 'hero's even more heroic wife comes to Istanbul like a genius to bring him home and obviously the bad guys capture her. And when the 'hero' goes to save her, you know what kind of conversation they're having while the bad guys are tying him up? Allow me to show you..

'Hero': How are you?
Wife of 'hero': I am really sorry, Vic. By coming here, I've added to your problems.
'Hero': Shhhh. You have come here, because you love me.
Bad Guy: Enough, we don't have time for a love song.

Oh yeah, very practical conversation to be had in front of bad guys. Very realistic lol. It was so damn funny even Shu and Larry were laughing.

Reason #5

Obviously there had to be a fight scene between the 'hero' and the Bad Guy. And the Bad Guy must have been gay cause during the fight scene, he tore off the 'hero's shirt and then proceeded to take off his own. Is this a fight or foreplay? Lol

I'd better stop here. I have too many reasons and I should really be getting back to my forced epiphany.

So as you can see, I was drooling over JC Chasez's performance of 'This I Promise You' with Matthew Morrison yesterday. So today I posted on Facebook that I've come to my senses and that JC Chasez beats Zayed Khan any damn day. Joanna's comment shocked the crap out of me. It sent me into a whirl of denial and then horrific acceptance. She said, 'Hmm, they have similar facial structures. What is up with you and guys who look like that?'

Once I got over the surprise that she bothered to even Google Zayed Khan, I made some comparisons of my own and guess what? Joanna is *gulp* right.

Oh. My. God.

The hair. The facial structure. The shape of the eyes. The cheekbones. The lopsided almost-smile.

THE SAME PHASE WHERE THEY GREW OUT THEIR HAIR!!!! THE SAME TILT OF THE HEAD!!!

But...you know....other than all that...they don't look thaaaat alike, do they? :s

A Nice Kind of Haunting

OMG Blogger is such a bitch. I typed out an entire post and saved it and it disappeared! Stupid Blogger. Oh well.

Anyway, as I typed before, if I could choose a person to haunt me for the rest of my life it would be JC Chasez. I was doing my usual monthly rounds of his fan sites and found something. He and Matthew Morrison performed together at Matthew Morrison's concert in London! And guess what song they sang?? :) The *NSync craze isn't over after all. Here's Matthew Morrison and the ever wonderful JC Chasez singing 'This I Promise You'.

Matthew Morrison, I like you. You're kind of cute and you have a pretty good voice. But there is this vision of utter and devastating beauty next to you with the voice of an angel that makes me fine with you getting off that stage so I can feast my eyes on him alone. *sigh*

And no, that is not all JC sang. There was another crowd pleaser that he showed off his four octave range with. This guy never ceases to amaze me. Ladies and gentlemen, JC Chasez singing 'Don't Stop Believing'.

I love JC Chasez. He's just so....I have no words. Here's where I insert another desperate plea for an *NSync reunion. Come on guys! Specifically oh I dunno *cough cough* JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE *cough*. Just one reunion tour. Just one? Please?

That aside, let me reiterate how much I love JC Chasez. Okay now that I think about it, there aren't enough words in the entire English language.

Before I die, I have to meet this guy. Somehow.

A Friday Night At Home

I'm really bored so I thought I'd share some random information here.

*NSync are continuing to haunt me. I was in the car with Joash the other day listening to Hitz.fm. Ean was saying something and suddenly I heard the name Lance Bass, making me pay attention. Apparently Lance is some bigshot...something now. He's sold some tv shows and stuff it seems. So he's planning this reality tv show right now to make a boyband or something.

And Ean's so dumb. He said that Lance Bass is from the Backstreet Boys. JJ's funny, he was saying that Joey Fatone, another *NSync member, was gonna be helping out with the show. Only he pronounces Fatone as Fat-one lol. That was funny.

Everyone seems to be bringing up *NSync these days. All this torture better be worth it.

Nothing much has been happening lately. Everyone's all stressed out about Loss Models and Financial Econs and...well this entire semester in general. And by the way, a big fat thank you to the KL Marathon that's gonna be on the 26th of June. Because of you I have to take the train and walk to church on Sunday. Thanks a lot.

And I really don't know what else to blog about. I'm sure no one's interested in how much I want to kill my Financial Economics lecturer or how I fell asleep in Business Law today or how its 9.30pm on a Friday night and I'm already thinking of bed. It doesn't help that I'm already on it. *sigh*

I hope my weekend is more exciting than this.

A Long Awaited Outing

I finally met up with Jasmine today :D

But before our happy reunion, I did an extremely nonsensical thing in the morning. Jasmine and I were gonna be hanging out in Bangsar so obviously I wanted to look decent. So I didn't wanna bring my schoolbag-looking...schoolbag to Bangsar with me. But when I was transferring my stuff from my schoolbag to my other handbag, I realised that I forgot one very important thing. My earphones.

Wait a second, that's not the stupid part. A millisecond later I realised I had missed something far more important that had been right next to my earphones.

My wallet

In all my life I have never forgotten my wallet before. How dumb can I be? By the time I realised it, Joash and I were already halfway to college and it was already 7.30am and I had an 8am class and so did Joash. So what to do? Stole some money from Joash and decided to go home later before meeting Jasmine to get my wallet :s

So yeah, I suddenly had so many things to do after my last class of the day. Had to go to the library to return a book, walk to TBR to give them Aaron's Financial Econs book to photocopy (I don't understand anything the lecturer says so it looks like the book became a necessity), then had to walk back home to get my wallet then walk back to Damai to take the train to Bangsar. But I got lazy obviously. Walked home but then took a cab back to Damai :)

So I met Jasmine at Bangsar and I was so excited!! :) I had barely gotten into the car before we started yapping away, making up for lost time when we could barely catch up. As usual, we did nothing much. Just sat down and had a good yaw about...well, everything. We went to Pelita first to grab a quick bite before she had to pick up her brother and sister from school. Then after that, after almost 13 years of being friends, I went to her house for the first time lol. It seems that I'm one of the very few who have been given the honour to lay eyes upon the Malhi household. I'm so proud.

After that Jasmine and I walked all over Bangsar for no reason. We walked past the pasar malam that Mom used to take me to when we still lived there *sigh*. The memories... Then we walked all the way to my old house. It looked like some big time dj's had moved in there, I saw huge ass speakers and stuff outside :s And they cut down the tree that Joash and I used to climb to hide from Mom!! *sniff sniff*

But when we were walking there, there was this guy walking his huge dog and Jasmine and I were a little worried and proceeded to walk in the middle of the road instead of encounter his dog at the side. We looked like idiots I'm sure, willing to be hit by a car instead of licked by a dog. Then when we were walking back to Lucky Garden headed for Secret Recipe, we saw him again and he actually smiled at us and said, "Long walk, huh?" Only then did we realise how ridiculous we must have looked. We were both all dressed up and we were walking all over Bangsar all sweaty and wearing nice shoes (I decided to wear my pink flowery sandals that Mom and Dad got me from Turkey. Do not roll your eyes, I felt bad for not wearing it.). So we had a good time laughing at ourselves.

Then we went to Secret Recipe for no better reason than wanting a place to sit, and then went to Devi's for an almost proper dinner. The amount of walking we did....my goodness.

We saw Sanjeev on our way to the LRT station. He grew out his beard again, he looks like a tall Punjabi boy lol.

It was such a relief to just talk the afternoon away with Jasmine. Felt good to finally catch up and talk about Aggy too. I knew she would understand.

So all in all it was an excellent day :) Only thing is, I'm supposed to be studying now and I'm so tired I just know I'm going to fall asleep as soon as I publish this post. Oh well, it's not like I'm gonna understand anything in Financial Econs lecture tomorrow anyway.

An Awesome Birthday Surprise

Saturday was finally the day of Larry's surprise birthday party. Thank goodness, because we were all slowly losing our minds. Why, you ask? Well let's see.
  1. Larry was needlessly upset because nobody cared it was his birthday (Or so he thought).
  2. He was always around, making it difficult to text in front of him cause I was always texting his sister, Gaytri trying to make plans and bugging people to confirm if they were coming.
  3. The stress of planning an event.
  4. Larry kept saying he didn't wanna go out without me, making me feel guilty and totally unable to comfort him in any way cause well, I WAS GOING TO BE THERE.
  5. The stress of keeping up the lie that I had important things to do on Saturday.
  6. The hints that we had something planned kept getting out when he was around. (Luckily he was too depressed to notice)
I'm sure there was more but I'm just thankful it's over so I would have forgotten a few :)

Anyway, on the day itself I was super stressed out. Larry and his sister and his cousin seemed to be the only ones who were on time! We were, in a perfect world, supposed to meet at La Bodega in Bangsar at 6.30pm and Larry was getting there at around 7pm. In the real world, here's where things stood at 6.30. I was still stuck at home waiting for Qades to pick me up. Jordi was the only one already in Bangsar, looking for company. Beh Jian Fung and Christina weren't even heard from. Joanna was MIA. And Aaron texted me saying that him and his girlfriend were going to be very late.

So yeah, Qades and I were supposed to get the cake on top of that. So, in the car I was simultaneously leading Qades through some back roads so we could avoid traffic jams and trying to plan for someone else to get the cake. And I had to tell Gaytri to prepare to stall Larry if need be. Finally Qades and I managed to get to Bangsar by around 6.55pm. But before we could even find parking, Gaytri is texting me to say that they're reaching Bangsar already. And after parking illegally in some alley, Qades and I went to La Bodega to discover....only Joanna and Jordi were there.

But things pulled together in the end. Gaytri managed to stall Larry until everyone got there. Even Aaron and his girlfriend, Li Yeng were there before the birthday boy arrived. So obviously when the whole gang was there we were making a shitload of noise. When we saw Larry approaching we thought for sure that he would have heard us. But he looked so depressed a bomb could have gone off and he wouldn't have noticed. So we all hid behind our menus and the table was eerily quiet until Joanna started reading the menu out loud, saying that a quiet table would have been much too suspicious. And even when Larry was right in front of our table he didn't recognise any of us! He actually glanced at us and told his sister not to sit near us and asked if they could get a table inside. LOL

When he finally saw us, man I wish I could describe the expression on his face.Oh wait a minute, scratch that. I have photos :)

It was hilarious :D I don't think Larry has said 'Oh my God' so many times in a row before.

Everything went uphill from there :) Dinner was good, at least mine was. Qades was shocked at his lol. It looked so good. He ordered lamb. And when it came it looked so mouthwatering.

It looked like a humongously gigantic slab of lamb and then you know what we realised? The lamb was just tiny little pieces. And that huge mound in the middle was mashed potatoes LOL. But we had a great time :D And we took photos to prove it too!

Goodness gracious. Qades looks like my son.

Look how happy Larry looks :)

Larry with his cousin, Jwalita and sister, Gaytri.

Beh Jian Fung and Christina

Me with Qades and Aaron (Also known as Hussein Yang)

Jordi Bordi and Joanna

I think Sudhan was high on his food :p

We all look so happy :)

This photo looked so happy couple-y that I had to laugh.

Then Joanna said this one looked happy couple-y too. LOL

I love this photo. I miss you Joanna :(

LOL LOOK AT LARRY!!

Ah me and my partner in crime, Gaytri. We were such a good team :)

Me and the birthday boooyyyyyy

So after our very lengthy photography session, Joanna and I thought it was about time we cut the cake, which obviously Larry didn't know about. But this La Bodega people must have really hated us cause they didn't try to be discreet at all. They came clearing our plates and putting down saucers and forks to eat the cake with. But the cake itself was nowhere to be seen. I lost track of the amount of times we had to signal them to bring out the cake already but they never did. Thank goodness Larry was oblivious. But then again, it's Larry :)

That's right, we took all those photos before we even cut the cake. Doesn't it look awesome?

I think all that chocolate put an extra twinkle in his eye :p

Larry forcing the Flaming down his throat LOL. He kept saying we were making him drink fire :p

Oh yeah this photo doesn't look awkward at all :p

Anyway this is Joanna's gift to Larry. She actually wrote him a poem! And it was really good too. The video isn't really clear so I'm posting the poem below so you can read it :)

Rudico

A year and a score of awesomeness is here,
As tonight we gather in merriment and good cheer.

To salute the thread that drew us to each other,
You are the glue that holds us together.

Bitter, and Bright,
Of our lives, the light.

At times unhappy and sad,
But among us, always glad.

Young at heart, childlike in mind,
To misjudge others, a tad inclined.

Watcher of "Gem",
Ahem, ahem.

Singer of notes,
Your song you must promote.

Theatrical and dramatic,
Animated in antics.

To some a son, a brother, a student and
To many, a friend.

Sudhan, budhan, budhy,
Suds, Larry, Sudhy.

Though many a name,
You stay the same.

Always stay true,
Always be you.

Wherever you may go,
Stay Rudico.

Isn't it awesome???

And last but not least, here we have.... *drumroll*

Larry's drunken speech when he was high on the Flaming!!! :D

Happy 21st Larry. You know you're awesome :)

A Heartfelt, Post Traumatic Thank You

About five months ago, this album called Post Traumatic was released. Three months ago, I went to Bangkok to watch Mike Shinoda perform...
