A Guilt Ridden Update

I haven't blogged in so long this page almost looks alien. I'm so disappointed with myself :(

Anyway to get rid of my horrible guilt and shame, I should blog about something happy, namely the church camp I went for during the Raya weekend when I was supposed to be studying for my Life Con test the next Monday. Needless to say, I brought my books along out of guilt even though I knew with 100% certainty that I wouldn't touch them. And yes, I didn't touch them. Neither did I look at them. I may even have forgotten that I brought them lol.

So...highlights?

Highlight #1
The Conjuring.

That's pretty much ALL Joash and Kevin and Jules were talking about for the entire damn camp. If there's one thing I learned about the movie, it's that I'm not watching it EVER.

There were so many references to it that I didn't understand that I was convinced they were talking crazy. Or that I was going crazy. But Joash's story about how freaked out he was, that was kinda funny.

So he watched the movie and was completely freaked out by it, right? And what does the clever boy do? He comes home and looks up the story about the family that the movie was based on. And he's reading all this freaky stuff that's just freaking him out even more and he wonders, why the hell am I doing this to myself lol. Then of course the day before we left for camp the Selvarajs did a mountain of laundry cause we're just procrastinators that way. And some of his clothes weren't dry so he hung them in his room while he slept. And he wakes up blearily in the morning only to completely jump out of his skin at the scary as hell human-like shape in his window, only to realise it was his t shirt.

LOL at the brother. 10 points for entertainment.

Highlight #2
The Scare

I knew Elizabeth Cheah would be the death of me. I just didn't know she'd choose to scare the life  right out of me.

On the first day at camp after lunch, Beth went missing. Nobody could find her and it was just the freakiest thing ever. So everyone tries not to panic and is looking all over the place for her. I was running around with a very freaked out Hannah who was talking the whole time to make up for my panicked silence. After a good 15 to 20 minutes of sheer panic, Hannah's giving the staff a description of Beth when one of them randomly decides to check the men's bathroom. Lo and behold, standing calmly at the sink washing her hands is Beth Cheah, wondering what all the fuss is about.

The brother will never let her live this down. He's gonna be telling this story at her wedding reception, I swear.

10 points to Beth for the almost heart attack.

Highlight #3
The Staircase

You know what? I shouldn't have paid for a room for camp. I should have paid for occupying the emergency stairs at Hotel Permaisuri where I spent more time than I did in my room.

I don't know why I was just drawn to these stairs. From the time we got there, I chose the stairs for taking calls, bonding with Jules, and a whole litany of things.

10 points to the stairs for my quality time.

Highlight #4
The Anger Management Lesson

Joash almost ended up in a discussion group with unknown people while the rest of us 'kids' were all grouped together. He proceeded to throw a fit that ended up with him being included in our discussion group.

10 points to the brother for...I don't know, let's just give him 10 points for fun.

Highlight #5
The Hunt for Treasure

Oh. My. Goodness.

I haven't run so much since school. But let's not talk about how fit I'm not.

Joash's catchphrase the entire duration of the treasure hunt was "FOLLOW MARIANNE!!!" It was ridiculously fun though. Joash and Kevin did most of the work, sprinting everywhere like their lives depended on it. The best part of it would have had to be when the sister, Beth and I were being the 'distraction' and talking in loud voices about how the next clue MUST have been in the drain. LOL

10 points to the sister for the distraction idea.

Highlight #6
The Horror Awaiting

They just sat there in our rooms looking all harmless. The least serviced air conds in the history of the world.

We all woke up red eyed and scratchy throated because of those things. No exceptions. Damn them.

10 points to the air conditioning for making things interesting.

Highlight #7
The Hilarity on Paper

We all wrote the least helpful feedback forms ever. I think we need a separate service one Sunday just for us to beg forgiveness.

10 points to the feedback forms for the opportunity to go nuts.

Highlight #8
The Need for Glasses

On the way to Melaka town in the van, I saw a sign for 'Kg Gangsa' that I of course read as 'Kg Gangsta'. I need glasses.

10 points to the sign for the forced epiphany about my eyesight.

Highlight #9
The Observation

Joash summed up in one sentence why people visited Melaka. People go to Melaka to queue up.

10 points to the brother for wit. (Only if he knows what wit means)

Highlight #10
The Walk

Hannah and I decided to go for a walk one night before one of our sessions. Guess where we walked.

Around the huge roundabout in front of the resort. Multiple times. For like half an hour. Maybe even longer. It was so exciting. We just never knew where we'd end up :p

But at least we decided to make it more exciting halfway through. Hannah turns to me and says, "Let's try going in the other direction!!"

Blew my mind.

10 points to Hannah for the most fun I had at camp LOL.

Highlight #11
The Bond

Gotta love how family camp forces us to bond by throwing us together for 3 days straight.

Kevin and Jules bonded within seconds. They're now going to become best friends and Kevin will not need me anymore :p

But all kidding aside, it was nice to spend time with the clowns I call my friends. Even though I see the siblings everyday and I see Jules almost as often. Even though Avean and Valentine live 30 seconds away and I could, in theory, see them whenever I wanted. Even though Hannah and Beth live across the hall from us and I can sometimes even hear them from my place. So I guess the only one I don't see that often would have been Kevin. So much for quality time with people I don't get to see :p

10 points to Kevin for giving me no choice about going for camp.

I'll only go next year if all these clowns are coming :)
