An Atrocity

Okay I never blog about unmentionables if I can help it, but this one I just couldn't let slide.

So I'm sure by now everyone has heard Justin Biebuerghhhhh's (Sorry. Even typing it is hard on the soul.) new single 'Boyfriend'.

Aiyo his face is on my blog. A piece of my soul just died.

Anyway, I'm sure nothing stood out or anything just note the low breathy voice at the beginning, and then the Timberlake wannabe falsetto. And the entire setting of the video too :s

And compare it to this awesomeness.

Yes, I know it's about time I get over NSync already and when it came out I didn't even like 'Girlfriend' but first I have one word for Biebuerghhhhh.

COPYCAT!!!

Or is that two words?

Whatever. One word or two, he is a copycat. As if the two choruses weren't alike enough, I watched Biebuerghhhhh's video and was laughing hysterically at how it was exactly the same concept. Only thing he didn't do was dance on cars.

Copycat.

Shall I do similarities?

Number one
Title of the song, obviously.

Number two
Even though JT didn't go falsetto that much in this song, compare Biebuerghhhhh's attempt to JT's tried and tested one. Wannabe.

Number three
Chorus sounds surprisingly alike.

Number four
ENTIRE music video. There was one scene in particular with Biebuerghhhhh and his girl that was so similar to Nelly and his girl.

Oh well, I guess I'm not outraged or anything. I'm just surprised me that's all. Just so we're clear, I obviously like 'Girlfriend' better.

A Good Week...Outside KL

So I spent the whole of last week at Mom and Dad's place in Melaka. By myself. It was nice. I got to spend some time with them and I didn't waste the whole week just waiting for Shu and Larry and Joanna and Michelle and Anna and all to be done with their finals. And I got to sample some of Melaka's awesome food; chicken ball rice, a very unusual wantan mee, etc.

Day 1 - Monday

Got to Melaka at about 4. Mom was happy to see me and as soon as I got to the house I sat down in front of the tv and indulged :) Daddy cooked up a storm for my 'welcome dinner'.

Day 2 -Tuesday

Oh look at that, mom and dad both at work. Mostly lazed around like a pig the whole day. Watched tv and then decided to sample Mom and Dad's wireless. Whoa. Connection so fast. Decided to catch up on Glee Season 3 and Gossip Girl Season 5 online while I'm at it. And Criminal Minds Season 7, needless to say. Dad usually got me lunch or I just had to heat up leftovers. Sometimes watched a DVD or read a book. Routine was so awesome that I repeated it til Friday :p

Day 5 - Friday

Everyone is done with finals and I get frantic thinking they're all gonna go out and celebrate without me. And sis arrives in Melaka in the afternoon, saying that Joash is dying without me it seems (When he came down he told me that the Internet connection back home at KL was so fast when I wasn't around and asked if I could just stay in Melaka. He sure was dying without me. Such an asshole. Urgh.).

Day 6 - Saturday

What? Mom has to go to school today? Dad is going to work (Well in Dad's case what else is new?)? Oh well, Dad took us out for chicken ball rice for lunch then both Mom and Dad took us to watch Avengers in the evening.  We didn't drive there cause it was so near, we just walked. And it was a nice walk too. It was a nice night out, I have to say; Joash and sis threatening me with spoilers which eventually turned into a spewing of information that could have been right or wrong, then dinner at McD when we got to Mahkota Parade, me asking sis to buy me M&M's at the cinema and her asking me how much Eminem costs (I told her he wasn't for sale. LOL aren't I hilarious? :D), then the movie itself which was totally awesome. I'm definitely watching it again.

Day 7 - Sunday

It's Mother's Day!! So we go to church like good little children and sat with mom right in front. I'm talking first row here. Then I get into a fight with Joash over my pen drive which he didn't want to return because he wanted to play with the magnet *sigh*. Then we get home and help Mom out in the garden for a while, which inspires me to pick up some gorgeous white flowers to put in a bowl of water for Mom. Joash stepped on some of them *angry face*. And of course I was doing this while I was supposed to be packing to head back to KL. But it was all good. Then we all went out for lunch at this awesome restaurant which I kid you not, was called Restoran Sedap dan Murah. LOL. Or was it Murah and Sedap? Something like that.

Then took the bus back to KL and I was back in the big city.

Day 8 - The Next Monday

I know, I know I was already back in KL so the title of this post is wrong. And 8 days do not make up a week. But it was still a good day, and still outside KL :)

Michelle and Shu and I decided to go to Klang to spend the day with Anna there. It was soooo much fun to just hang out. Had an awesome briyani lunch, walked around in Jusco with the clowns acting like clowns, went back to Anna's place and actually took a nap (This nap was not planned. We were watching tv and eventually all of us just dozed off.), and spent the rest of the evening watching the other three clowns being psychopaths. Oh, oh and I tasted the awesomest pisang goreng I have ever tasted in my life. In my life. It was this stall near Anna's place. I couldn't stop eating them, it was just soooo good. Then we headed back to PJ (Me and Shu didn't realise it was almost 9, we were both happily just lazing around in Anna's room. At least I thought it was about 8, Shu thought it was still 7 something and that it was still bright outside LOL.) for dinner at D Stall where I had their awesome pizza burger. Tasted so good....

So there we have it. Eight awesome days of relaxation :) Sem break's looking pretty good so far.

A New Season Part 1

Hello sweet blog that I have been shamefully neglecting for I don't know how long because of finals!!!

Anyway finals are over and I am now on a month-long break, two weeks of which I will be spending without Larry, Shu, Joanna, Anna, Michelle, and pretty much everyone from uni cause their papers only end on the 12th. FML right?

But still I'm just so glad finals are over, despite the fact that I just realised I have no friends lol. And I've just been dying to blog about the new season of ABDC since it started. That's right folks, America's Best Dance Crew Season 7 premiered like 3 or 4 weeks ago and I'm all pumped up full of comments (and rude and unfair judgements) about the crews and their performances. And of course, after a long dry spell, the hotness of one Mr. JC Chasez ;)

JC CHASEZ WITH STUBLLE!!!! *faint*

So....pretending I'm a normal person now. They're calling Season 7 the Return of the Superstars cause last season was Season of the Superstars it seems (It sooo wasn't the season of the superstars okay, they had a Justin Bieber episode. Enough said.) where each episode had the crews dancing to songs by a 'superstar'. I've got to say, even though I didn't recognise lots of songs in the previous seasons, their dance challenges were much more interesting. Like the eighties challenge. And the evolution of hip hop challenge. Oh well, whatever. As long as I get to watch JC. So let's cut to the chase here and start with the first episode, the Britney Spears episode!!!!

Okay so there actually already was a Britney Spears episode. When was it, Season 3? Must be. But everyone on the show was pretending that it never happened. Let's let them live in their pretty little world where they're being original, shall we?

So anyway, as usual they started off with the group number to 'I Wanna Go' by Britney Spears.

Okay why has all my favourite people on Youtube decided not to post Season 7 performances of even bearable quality???

Damn, now I have to cut and upload all the videos myself? The horror :O Luckily I have all the time in the world to download a new video editing software, figure out how to use it, and cut all the videos one by one for the 3 episodes of ABDC so far. Only thing I didn't see coming is all the waiting time for all the bloody videos to save. Sometimes, very rarely but sometimes, I hate technology.

Back to the group number,

Mix'd Elements, Irratik, 8 Flavahz, Stepboys & Fanny Pak
Song: I Wanna Go - Britney Spears

*scream* First sighting of JC!!!! Oh my goodness he looks so hot. And whoa has he been working out? Look at those arms.... *swoon* Okay, okay I'm stopping with the psychotic stalker talk. Aiyo why is D Bloody Trix still there la? I mean I knew he would be, but he could have done us haters a favour and decided to stick with what he knows - dancing, not talking about it. And Lil Mama, look at her looking all pretty and, well...normal.

Moving on to the actual performance, I'm trying my best to reserve judgement here, but anyone else feel like the performance was just bleh until Fanny Pak got there? I'm just saying :)

Anywayyyy my hopeless biased ways aside, let's get into the performances and my biased judgements :p

8 Flavahz
Week 1 - Britney Spears Challenge
Song - 3

Is anyone else feeling disturbed about the fact that they gave a bunch of kids (these girls are all aged 9 to 17) a song about threesomes? I mean its not like the ones that mattered (namely whichever one of these kids is the 9 year old) knew that but still. Disturbing. Oh, and did anyone upon hearing the name of this crew suddenly remember the existence of that Craig David song What's Your Flava and feel like listening to it? I did :s

Back to business. Was anyone wow-ed by their performance? Anyone get what the judges were so excited about? They were good I guess but it wasn't mind blowing or anything. And this coming from a girl who was practically jumping out of her seat when she first saw the Iconic Boyz last season, okay? It does not take much to impress me when it comes to kids. There was nothing that I looked at and really liked. Maybe the ending pose. And yes, I think the little girl with the afro is beyond adorable.

I got a little annoyed at that shoutout to Lil Mama while they were dancing though. What was that for? So she would be as manja and as protective of them as she was with the Iconic Boyz? Whateverrr.

Other than that, well I suppose I don't hate these girls. We'll see how they do next time.

Mix'd Elements
Week 1 - Britney Spears Challenge
Song - Til The World Ends

Oh no. Guy with a sob story and  a sense of humour (the part about being an undercover Britney Spears fan). See, when they do things like that, it makes me want to like them so bad. So bad. So I was actually looking for things to love about their performance. Hunting for something awesome to love.

And...nothing. There was something missing in this performance. It's just that it's been six freaking seasons already on ABDC and I've seen sooo many awesome crews. These guys weren't horrible. But they weren't great. How sad.

Irratik
Week 1 - Britney Spears Challenge
Song - Hold It Against Me

First thing I thought when I saw these girls - oh my goodness they're so hot. Then I looked at them one by one and guess what? Cheerleader effect. Who knew that was a real thing, right? And yes there is  a reason I haven't put up JC's comments, bear with me.

So. An all girl crew. I tend to hate them. Even if they have an Indian girl named Chandni whose parents think her dance dreams are a waste of time. Especially if they toss their hair about when they're dancing  and put on that 'I'm so hot' smolder. Especially when their performance wasn't that great.

You know what was great about their performance? JC's comments :D

LOL isn't he funny???? You do not wanna know how many times I watched those precious "Oh my God, look at me" seconds :D Dammit la why does he have to be so HOT???

Oh, by the way, do you want to see what D Bloody Trix thinks flirting is?

I have nothing to say. No. Nothing. At all.

I should say this though. Can D Bloody Trix be turned over to the Grammar Police for his use of the words 'your GUYSES'? What the hell is guyses? It's either 'you guys' or 'your crew', you can't have both. But then again D Bloody Trix might come up with some misunderstood metaphor about having your cake and eating it too.

Stepboys
Week 1 - Britney Spears Challenge
Song - If You Seek Amy

I didn't know at first why I didn't like these guys. Then I saw them dancing and I thought, hey maybe it's because they kinda suck. I was actually bored the entire performance. I may have laughed like once then the gags got old pretty fast.

And I'm usually a fan of comedy while dancing by the way. I liked Poreotix in Season 5. I wasn't madly in love with them but I didn't dislike them this intensely at  least. Thing about Poreotix is, they were funny but they could dance. So yes, I thought I didn't like Stepboys cause well, if they could dance, they were hiding it pretty well.

But guess what? That's not why. I saw D Bloody Trix's comments and I understood.

They were friends of D Bloody Trix's at school!! Unexplained and unavoidable twitching when I saw them? Explained. Their suckiness? Well I'm sure D Bloody Trix deserves some credit for that at least.

And JC's so adorable when he laughs *stupid smile*

FANNY PAK!!!! (Okay fine, their name isn't actually spelt in upper case and it doesn't have any exclamation marks. I'm just so happy they're back :D)
Week 1 - Britney Spears Challenge
Song - Womanizer

NOW it feels like I'm watching America's Best Dance Crew!! Just when I thought the first episode was going to be a complete bust. Have I mentioned that I'm so glad Fanny Pak is back? :)And on a completely unrelated note, isn't Matt Cady adorable? :)

I absolutely loved these guys in Season 2! They're so amazing and they never seem to do anything to give you whoa moments like all those gravity defying stunts or whatever but their performances rock the shit out of me anyway. Like this one. Rocked the shit out of me. And deja vu! They ended their performance exactly the same way they ended their first performance on ABDC in Season 2 :) I love Fanny Pak :D

And look, I got to watch JC rambling for the first time this season too. Please tell me he can't get more adorable than this. I can't take any more adorable-ness from him.

So anyway, Mix'd Elements was the bottom crew and they get to battle the next week's bottom crew for their survival. Damn, should have been Stepboys. Oh well, I suppose they were equally bad and the judges couldn't decide.

I'm so glad ABDC is back.

A River of Blood

It took me some time, but I finally figured out;
That I'm addicted to how I bleed.
No matter how much it stings, no matter how much I cry;
For you I'd stiffen up and do the deed.

I'd willingly hand you the knife, bare to you my wrist;
Knowing the pain sure to come.
Knowing that I'd get nothing at all in return;
Knowing that to nothingness I'd succumb.

Because with you darling, even that cold steel knife;
Is the warmth of a thousand fires.
I feel not the pain as you smile while you cut;
No wound can ever make fade my desire.

An Atrocity

Why is it that when I fall madly in love with someone, the universe decides to play a cruel and unusual joke on me and take it away????

Okay hold up, I'm not emo-ing about lost love here so everybody can calm down and stop staring in confusion wondering who I could possibly be talking about. I'm explaining, patience, patience.

So lately I've been reading a lot of Lee Child books. A lot. And by a lot I mean I downloaded all 16 books and am plodding my way through one by one. Quite a few of them I had already read, thanks to the generosity of the UTAR library so those I skipped. Anyway, Lee Child. Awesome writer, I am a huge fan. I love how he writes and how I never see the twists coming in his books. When it comes it's like this huge sucker punch which you just do not see coming. It's amazing. And he's funny too. In a very dry, subtle way. To those of you who just asked in your minds if he's British, yes he is lol.

His books are about this ex-military cop, current vagabond, drifter, whatever you call it named Jack Reacher. Oh, Jack Reacher. So he wanders around carrying nothing with him except a toothbrush, and after the 9/11 tragedy that made travel more complicated, his passport, and goes about putting wrongs that he sees to rights. He's a great character; absolutely humongous at 6 feet 5 inches and 250 pounds, polite, strong sense of right and wrong, funny.

How do you not fall for a guy this funny and this confident and just....Reacher-like?

Like in the book '61 Hours' there's a scene where the Police Chief of this small town is being confronted by two big biker guys in the snow and Reacher's sitting in the car with another cop who's too scared to help.
Reacher: You better do something.
The policeman does nothing.
Reacher: Interesting strategy. You're going to wait until they freeze to death.

LOL. And there was this other book, 'The Hard Way' and there's a scene where this woman, Lauren Pauling is wading through rubbish looking for something.
Lauren: There could be rats.
Reacher: Use the flashlight.
Lauren: Will that scare them off?
Reacher: No, but you'll see them coming.

See, he's so funny. I also like him when he's mad. In another book, 'Bad Luck and Trouble', him and his old military police unit are trying to avenge the deaths of four of their friends and to do that they're trying to get information from this lady, Diana Bond.
Diana: I'm appealing to your patriotism. This is a question of national security.
Reacher: Between the four of us here, we've got sixty years in uniform. How many have you got?
Diana: None.
Reacher: How many has your boss got?
Diana: None.
Reacher: Then shut up about patriotism and national security, okay? You're not qualified.

*sigh* With every book I read, I just fell more and more in love with Jack Reacher, got more and more annoyed with every villain that tried to best him (and failed obviously), and pretty much just became more and more grateful for the existence of Lee Child, who brought him to life.

Then they went and ruined it for me.

Apparently one of Lee Child's books, One Shot, is currently being filmed. Yes, it's being made into a movie. Guess who they casted as my current most favourite anti-hero?

If you absorbed anything at all that I just wrote, you'll understand why when I found out I just stared at my screen in blank shock and horror and went ".......HUH??"

Tom Cruise? Really? Six foot five and two hundred and fifty pounds? Uhhuh, sure. Jack Reacher really is being brought to life, huh? This is practically a crime in cinema. Especially to all fellow Reacher addicts, or, quoting an article I just read, 'Jackaholics'. I mean, I can't quite picture Tom Cruise nailing the classic Reacher headbutt, or stopping a guy's heart with a solid 250-pound punch. And come on, if not someone who fit the general description in the books then at least someone who was tall enough to deliver a headbutt! I'm sure it'll be entertaining to watch Tom Cruise try and play the role but...it's still a disappointment. Yes, I'm sulking.

But wait, that's not even the worst part. The director of 'One Shot' was an unknown name to me, Christopher McQuarrie. Or so I thought. Apparently he directed one of my 'favourite' movies of all time, The Tourist. I swear that movie almost killed me. It really almost did. I was on the verge of suffocating myself with my popcorn just so the torment would end. And he's directing my precious opportunity to watch Jack Reacher onscreen instead of just picturing him in my mind.

*sigh* This is a message to the universe. I get the joke. You are cruel and you have a sick sense of humour, but well played. Well played.

A 'Whoa' Moment

Okay I know in my last post I was quite clear on my opinions as to why Criminal Minds rocks.

But today I had an epiphany; for some reason most of my epiphanies occur in the shower but that's besides the point. Anyway, I remembered this episode and this particular clip that I found pretty interesting. Check it out, please. And yes there is a point to this.

Interesting right? We start to make our musical choices at the age of 14 and somehow no music impacts us the same way at any other age. I didn't think anything of it at the time because I don't know if it's true. I mean, hell if I can remember what the hell I listened to when I was 14, right? But today I came to a startling realisation that definitely turned me into a believer. Now I was 14 in the year 2004. And NO it wasn't that long ago. You will never, ever, ever in a million years believe whose album came out in February that year.

JC Chasez. And if you're thinking, oh is this that guy from NSync that this stupid girl keeps going on and on about, then the answer would be yes, the very same. His one and only solo album was released in 2004. When I was 14. And I'm still crazy about him.

Mindfucked.

An Addict's Confession: It's So Good, It's Criminal

I. Love. Criminal. Minds.

Criminal Minds is an awesome show. It's not your run of the mill crime fighting series. I just find what they do so fascinating.

So instead of the usual motive and opportunity thing that cops do, the team studies the behaviour of criminals, mostly serial killers. It's called profiling. But in the show they also study behaviour in kidnappings, hostage situations, basically any kind of bad guy. And an awesome team they are :) They're part of a branch of the FBI and they solve cases all over the country; there was even one case where they went to Mexico. So yeah, they're a big deal.

I like the current team better than the original team though. The old team had this irritating, 'I'm so hot' kinda woman called Elle. She's so unimportant I even forgot her last name. Hang on, hang on, I'm IMDB-ing. Ah here we are, Elle Greenaway. She was played by Lola Glaudini. But yeah, she was annoying.

Yeah, yeah she's kinda hot. But she annoyed the crap outta me. It didn't help her cause that her replacement is so much awesomer than she was.

The other former team member was their leader Jason Gideon. He was pretty all right, but he could be kinda scary and humourless at times. He left in one of the earlier seasons after his life got pretty freaky from all the serial killers they were chasing. He was played by Mandy Patinkin. I'll never get over that name. Mandy. Huh. You noticed that I said he was, well a 'he' right?

He was the sort of fatherly figure whenever they were questioning people and stuff. He was pretty likeable.

Anyway, let's get to the current team! :D

First of all, we have SSA Aaron Hotchner, the leader/boss man.

Oh I know he doesn't look like much, but start watching Criminal Minds and you'll fall madly in love with him. He's such a great boss but at the same time he's tough as nails on anyone on the outside. And he has a son who he's a complete softie with, which is so adorable. And he really, really takes care of his team, which is so hot. Aaron Hotchner will blow your freaking mind.

This video was when Hotch was testifying in court to an attorney who was quite doubtful of their whole 'studying behaviour' thing.

You go Hotch!! Anyway, his awesomeness aside, he also has a sense of humour that kinda hits you unawares. See what he had to say when one of his guys, Reid, gets a haircut.

Oh, Hotch. I just love you.

Okay, next we have SSA David Rossi, who's basically the 'mom' to Aaron Hotchner's 'dad'.

Just so you know, he's not as scary as he looks :) He joined the team when Gideon left. Or rejoined rather. He was one of the people who actually founded the BAU (that's the Behavioural Analysis Unit to all you Criminal Minds newbies) in the FBI. So anyway, he was a little annoying at first, not used to operating in a team and stuff. This is how he behaved in the earlier episodes when he first appeared.

Anyway, he turned into a big grandpa eventually. Now I actually kinda like him. He provides some humour from time to time too :)

LOL we'll get to the adorable know-it-all Dr. Reid now I guess.

Okay Dr. Spencer Reid.

Where do I begin? He's this genius with an IQ of 187 or something and he has an eidetic memory. He loves to spew out random facts about anything and everything and always has too much information and a serious case of verbal diarrhea. But he still manages to be totally adorable.

Okay look how smart he is. This is an episode where he has to crack a code in these letters that a bad guy in jail was sending to his girlfriend.

LOL he's so lifelike! And this one's funny too...

Gosh, I love Reid.

Oh and then comes the sexiest man on the team. SSA Derek Morgan *sigh*.

Isn't he gorgeous?? Is that explanation enough about why he's awesome? :D Aaanyway, Derek Morgan's the tough one in the team. He's all suave and to the point and...well he's hot. He was leader of the team for a while when Hotch was gone and he's so cool when he's all Alpha Male and stuff. But he's loyal to Hotch and to the team. So loyal that when he thought Prentiss, another member of the team, died, he hunted down her killer. Just because. Derek Morgan is awesome. And funny too. Him and Reid are absolutely hilarious together.

And as if that wasn't funny enough....

LOL

So next we have SSA Jennifer "JJ" Jareau.

Isn't she pretty??? Anyway she used to be the one who chose which cases they took and handled all their liaisons with all the different police departments and with the media, but as of Season 7 she became a full on profiler. She also started dating one of the police officers from one of their cases, who was kinda cute by the way, and eventually they had a baby. She's sort of a mom to Reid especially.

SEE, she's funny! Boys, behave or I will ground you both :p

And then there's my absolute favourite, SSA Emily Prentiss!!!

I just love Emily Prentiss. She's this ambassador's daughter so she's lived all over the world and is fluent in lots of languages. And she's that annoying Elle Greenaway's replacement. Sooo much awesomer than Elle fucking Greenaway. Anyway, I love how she's so sensible and she rarely gets weepy or emotional. She's pretty funny too, scroll back up to "he's so lifelike", would you? :) There are a few more where those came from...

Look at that smile at 0:57. *sigh*

And last but not lease we have the Technical Analyst (basically their computer superstar) Penelope Garcia! I love Garcia too, she's hilarious. She and Morgan have this flirty thing going on and GOD she's so lucky.

Oh and check out this video from 5:20, I think it's the funniest thing I've seen in the show. So at 5:20 you get to see how Morgan and Garcia usually talk right? Keep watching until Garcia gets on the phone again and see what happens :D

Oh yeah, it's pretty obvious you were expecting someone else Garcia :D

Oh and there's one more.

LOL what's it like at Kwan-tee-co?

There's a lot to love about Criminal Minds, folks.

But if you watch nothing else, just watch Season 7 Episode 9. The ending made me wanna cheer like I was at a sports event.

Oh that mock salute. This Josh Redding character made me swoon.

In conclusion, Criminal Minds just rocks to hell and back and all you people who don't watch it have no idea what you're missing out on.

And with that, I sign off. Cheers :)

A Heartfelt, Post Traumatic Thank You

About five months ago, this album called Post Traumatic was released. Three months ago, I went to Bangkok to watch Mike Shinoda perform...
