Trip to PD

The folks wanted to take us out on a holiday cause its been some time since we all just went somewhere for fun without it being Christmas or a prayer meeting in Taiping. Which is quite depressing now that I think about it LOL.

So anyway, this trip to PD could not have come at a better time seeing as I had 3 tests last week and another one on Monday :S I hope no one else is unlucky enough to feel my pain :)

So we left KL right after my test on SATURDAY (:@ curse UTAR) and arrived at Glory Beach Resort way before check in time. We were lucky though, our room was ready and we got to go in. First impression was good. Then we reached the room..

The 'kids' (as we're still known, even though we've all been officially over 18 since Joash's birthday last month) room was so small that sis, Joash and me could barely stand in it at the same time. There wasn't even any floor space for a mattress :S And the shower was so tiny that I would have knocked my shoulder or elbow into something if I attempted to move. Well that was still excusable, its not like we were gonna be spending too much time indoors anyway.

So Joash and me got all excited to check out the beach and immediately garbed up and ran out with sis.

Utter disappointment.

There was dirt all over the beach. It came from the water :S We tried to ignore it and stared at the horizon....where we saw an oil rig and lots of huge ass boats :S We walked further down the beach in an effort to ditch the dirt...the dirt came with us :S

At this point I started taking photos and the development around us kinda ruined most of em lol

You can just see the oil rig and huge ass ships in the distance :P And the plastic bag on the beach obviously :)

These 2 photos would have been so nice if there wasn't a stupid building there :@

And these 2 would look so nice if we were walking on a nice beach :(

I never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for Dad's Selangor Club membership!! They're affiliated to the Yacht Club in PD which has an awesome beach and pretty great food. The Yacht Club saved our trip I'm telling you..

We spent most of our time there after the disastrous beach at the not so glorious Glory Beach Resort. Did I mention that the pool was green by the way? And yet people were gladly swimming and playing around in there :S The family and I were deeply disturbed at everyone's apparent lack of hygienic concerns.

Which is why the photos of the pool are all not in colour ;)

Dad looked like he was surveying the place for future purchase :P
And yes, that's the green pool :S

We had a good time at the Yacht Club :) Went for a dip, had our showers and eventually had dinner there. The showers there are glorious, you just have to stand there and its like a hot water massage :)

This was when we were all having tea after a nice dip in clean water off a clean beach :)

We had a nice long dinner and then went back to "Glory" Beach Resort and pretty much just crashed after a nice lazy day.

It was country mix night, musicwise so Mom and Dad had fun :)

Check out the SIZE of the plate

Next day we just couldn't wait to get outta there so we checked out early. We took our time waking up and stuff though. We were just way ahead of checkout time. I'm sure we had no regrets when we walked by the green pool and the changing room that reeked of the garbage collecting next to it *shudder*

So we had breakfast at the Yacht Club obviously. Oh something interesting happened after we finished breakfast and we were just sitting around talking and lazing.

I was watching these 2 Indian kids playing at the playground. They looked like they were having a good time and I was reliving my childhood in my mind and being all serene and at peace. Then these 2 foreign kids came along and they wanted to play on the swings. The Indian kids were playing on the slides and sharing the playground shouldn't have been an issue. I mean come on, there were four of them and they were all tiny :)

Next thing I know, these Indian kids turn into thugs and are chasing the foreign kids away :S

I got a little irritated I guess cause I can't stand this typical indian behaviour. So I suddenly became a champion of children's rights and decided to go over there and help them out. When I asked the 2 foreign kids if they wanted to play on the swings, they both gave me the most adorable puppy dog faces and nodded. So I told them to go ahead and I would sit close by and make sure the Indian kids didn't bother them.

It was hilarious when this small little Indian boy tried to intimidate me when I told them to let the foreign kids play on the swings :P

After that when we were leaving the little foreign girl waved at me and smiled and I thought that was really sweet of her :)

So after a relaxing morning at the beach and a lazy lunch, we headed back for KL. Back to tests and stress and studying...

But I'm glad we had that weekend away. It was especially nice since nobody was getting on anyone's case, we all just wanted to relax and have a good time. So yeah, it was great :D

Michael's Farewell

Yes I know Michael's farewell was last week and I'm a little late with this post but better late than never :)

It was fun to plan a surprise party after so long. Stressful but fun :) We were given a golden opportunity when Michael had to cancel our karaoke outing which was supposed to be his farewell. So me, my sister and Joash were trying to plan another outing or something special we could do for him. Shockingly, Mom of all people was the one who suggested we have a party here at our house. We all got crazily excited...ok fine I got crazily excited and we only had about a week to throw everything together. So sis called Auntie Jennifer who also was very enthusiastic about it. Then we invited people and all.

So on Friday suddenly people are telling me they're gonna be late and all. I was panicking cause I was thinking, oh damn is anyone gonna be here for the 'surprise' part? :S

So sis made an emergency call to Auntie Jennifer to stall Michael for another half an hour or so. Thankfully they hadn't left the house and Auntie Jennifer said no problem. So there were people arriving and we ordered the pizza then just sat around making a lot of noise waiting for Michael to get there. Hannah and Beth were REALLY excited that they could be up late so they spent their night being way too excited about everything lol.

Then when Michael finally got here with his family, CRISIS!! The pizza got here at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME :S

So Auntie Judi said she'd get the pizza cause there's no reason she can't get pizzas on a Friday night. And there were like 4 or 5 pizzas there lol. So Mom went downstairs to let them in. And it seems Auntie Jennifer also panicked when she saw the pizzas so she created some bull about Auntie Judi must be having bible study and the pizza was for them hehe.

Then when Michael came up we were all like crazy excited. He took AGES to take off his shoes all so we almost yelled SURPRISE when Auntie Jennifer walked in. Luckily we managed to control ourselves. Then when Michael walked in we all finally got to yell SURPRISE!!!

And there was zero expression on his face.

LOL

He took a few moments to stare blankly at us then he suddenly regained his senses and went "............oh?"

Then he asked us what this is and we were all laughing and telling him that its his farewell party and he was pleasantly surprised I hope. Well he was surprised anyway :)

The rest of the party went pretty smoothly. Everyone was having fun and we watched Brazil versus Holland which was the entertainment. Brazil's performance was the entertainment I mean :)

So yeah it was good. Its been a while since we had a party at our place. And we got to do something for Michael before he left so that was nice.

Anyway he left for Australia on Tuesday. So he's probably settling in now. And we're all gonna miss him I'm sure. Auntie Jennifer in particular was pretty emotional about it :) Oh well his mommy what...

Anyway the photos unfortunately are with sis so I might post some if I'm semangated enough later :)

For now, I'm glad we got to say goodbye to Michael..for a couple of months at least :) He'll be back for Christmas. So we'll be looking forward to his return :) Til you get back here, g'day mate :P

My life is so happening

Well I'm not saying that my life has gotten rid of its lifelessness but I definitely see an improvement :)

I've been missing Shu lately. Sure we have classes together and we're together most of the time but we're so busy that we just don't have that much time to talk or anything. Of course things with Anna are the worst. I barely see her at all. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we have ONE class together. Okay it doesn't sound that bad I admit but I'm used to being in the same classes ALL the time :(
So to my two darlings, I miss you guys and though keeping busy means we're studying hard, it still kinda sucks hehe.

Been looking forward to meeting up with Michelle too. She's been back from the UK for a while now and I haven't met her in ages. We were just texting the other day when we were watching England versus Germany.

Speaking of which...joke of a match much?? Damn if I hadn't been feeling sorry for David Beckham (who suddenly looked pretty cute in his suit all *drool*) I would most definitely have been laughing my ass off. It was almost as entertaining as Robert Green :)

I was a little sad when South Korea got booted out though. They're like the ultimate underdog team I was rooting for. I do admit I have a soft spot for them since the 2002 World Cup days. Damn when they beat Turkey...that was precious man :D I mean who had even heard of the South Korean football team before that? Park Ji Sung was but another one of the adorably boyish looking faces on the street. So yeah, I totally loved that :)

Oh and obviously I was sad that Spain chased off Portugal. But oh well, I knew they needed a miracle to win. So now I only have Germany left and they're going up against Spain. So yeah, maybe another miracle? After all what's the World Cup without Lukas Podolski to ogle over? :)

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway enough of World Cup drama.

Michael will be leaving soon for Australia. With Aaron already gone and Michael headed out to join him, I can only wonder who's gonna be next :( I'm definitely gonna miss him. There is NO ONE quite like Michael Cowling. So this coming Sunday will be his last day in church before he leaves. I know it won't get emotional or anything. It'll probably just hit me after he leaves :S

So today was my calculus test. I thought I did so well and I was so pleased with myself until I got outta the hall and started discussing the paper with Sudhan aka Larry and Shalini and Saravanan. But that was just for the first question so I'm hoping the other 3 questions help to pull up my marks. Fingers crossed!!

So after that we all walked IN THE RAIN from S block to the cafeteria. Which is pretty far in the rain by the way. I'm never sharing an umbrella with Sudhan ever again. And I'm getting him one for his next birthday :P

Anyway we were all just sitting in the cafeteria and wasting time when Saravanan told us to get off our asses cause there was pizza at the Sports Club AGM. I was gonna leave soon so I stayed where I was but eventually the lure of free pizza was too much for me :) After that we went for the Arts & Crafts AGM and AGAIN there was the tempting waft of pizza. I was gonna run home away from the temptation of MORE pizza at the Asian Cultural Society AGM but apparently my name's already on their show my face :S

All in all I had 6 freaking slices of pizza. No dinner for me today :P

Oh I have a Prob and Stats test coming up on Saturday. I'd better get down to studying already. Will hopefully have more interesting updates soon when my life gets more happening with tests every week hehe.

Keep enjoying the World Cup people :D:D Forget about homework and tests and tutorials, they come about all the time, unlike the once in four years of the World Cup. And no you may not quote me on that :)

An attempt at an update ;P

LOL

I can't believe I ditched my blog for soooo long. I miss blogging like crazy!!

Well obviously a lot has happened since errrr.... JANUARY??? Ok honestly I didn't think it had been that long :S Anyway moving on...

Lots of things have finally calmed and settled down. My third semester was the craziest semester ever and unfortunately my results emanated that quite clearly. But things are much better this semester. Shu, Sudhan (now seemingly also known as Shudran) and I have taken up nerding. Its driving me absolutely nuts so far but hey, it's only been a week or 2. I suppose it'll get better at some point :)

Hmmmm we went out on Sunday for Lisa's sweet 16th :) It was pretty cool. We watched Prince of Persia. The movie was a joke but we had fun making fun of every few seconds of it lol. Lisa was laughing at the lamest of my comments so at least the birthday girl was happy. Then everyone came home. We made a lotta noise, ate a lot, couldn't stop laughing and there were numerous memorable moments (some of them being Bryan's "Son of India" comment and a certain joker who tried to intimidate Joash with hilarious results). So basically just another outing for the formerly active St Mary's youths :P

Joash playing catching?

Well obviously Bryan was excited about SOMEthing. And Leanne looks very confused about it :P

Lisa in the middle of her dance moves :P

Oh Lisa has been spending a lot of time here. And by here I mean my house. It's nice to have her around :) Even Dad gets so excited when she's here. She's hard not to love lol. Oh and I'm sorry that you've been upstaged Matthew :P

What else........

Oh I had my fun-nest sem break even though it was only for 2 weeks. I was barely at home and mom and dad didn't even mind. Maybe they noticed my lack of a social life during the semester lol. I spent a lot of time with Lisa. Helping her out with studies and all. Hard to believe I know but anything to spend time with my darling :)

This post is so not detailed compared to my other posts. Which is so sad. I shall not neglect my blog so terribly ever again.

Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah how could I forget this one? JOASH'S BIRTHDAY IS COMING :D It is crazily unbelievable, my rugrat brother is turning 18. Wow all my parents children are above 18 now. Or rather they will be in about 6 days :) So I'm definitely looking forward to that.

I can't seem to think of anything else now. Okay I'm gonna go update my out of date playlist now :)

Its my blog anyway so I can just update when I remember stuff I feel like typing out hehe. Will blog again soon.

Cheerio =D

Puan Chia's Retirement

For the first time in almost four years my feet were placed in the footprints I carved myself many years ago. I knew I would be back there eventually, roaming the corridors I once roamed, breathing in the presence of MGS girls-past, present and future, and reminiscing the days I truly and lovingly treasure in my heart. I knew I would go back to MGS :)

It was the retirement ceremony of the only secondary school principal I had ever known, Puan Chia Loy Tian. In my wildest dreams I could never have imagined a more wonderful principal. Puan Chia is one of those teachers who never utters a rebuking word harshly, yet you sense that she is not one to be toyed with. Misdeeds and mischief was not tolerated-but in the gentlest yet firmest way possible.

The clearest memory I have of her was a time when she sat me and certain friends of mine down after assembly to talk to us. Our SPM trials had just concluded and Navini and I, who were both targeted to achieve 10 A's, had performed quite miserably. She gave the both of us her famous Puan Chia 'look' (eyebrows raised and eyes peering over her glasses) and bluntly asked us if we had simply given up on scoring those 10 A's. It was a talk I would never forget and after that, though I fooled around A LOT, I did manage to get 9 out of those 10 A's.

Anyway it was totally awesome being back in the glorious place that used to be my second home. Being in school was a great walk down memory lane. As it turned out, five of us from the class of 2007 made it to say our final thank you to Puan Chia. Jasmine, Jeni, Khir, Poon and I were ronda-ing around the school just absorbing the vibes of school life. We couldn't stop reminiscing about the mischief and all the nonsense we were up to when we were in school just four short years ago.

We sat in our Form 4 classroom, remembering the attack of the monkeys and the way we would get totally creeped out when the building was empty. We took a tour of the Prefects Room and of course decided it was better in our day ;p We spoke to many of our teachers, and they all pretended to forget how much trouble we used to cause them. We even visited the tree where we carved our names and it was STILL THERE with our names intact :'( I got some photos, here's my name on our tree :)

MGS has changed in many ways, but in many more ways it is still exactly the same.

At the retirement ceremony, the school spirit displayed by the teachers and students was still the same. I had a brief moment of deja vu, imagining that I was one of those students squashed on the floor cheering, or one of those prefects telling them to be quiet.

Oh and there's a new guy teacher who all the girls have a crush on named Mr. Wong. Mom introduced me obviously and yeah he was good looking but not all that great. But then again, being in a girls' school changes people's opinion of good looking :) I would know. Poon went as far as claiming he looked slightly similar to Robert Pattinson (which he didn't of course :S).

What else? Hmmmmm........... I guess there was just too many things to absorb. But yeah I was so pleased to see that the MGS spirit still lives on. Oh and me and the girls were planning on joining the alumni, since we fit the description of "old girls" now :) Not exactly OLD but you know what I mean. We got distracted by the plan to go have lunch in our old haunt, KKI(stands for Kari Kepala Ikan). Yet despite the name we never had fish head curry there :)

Of course at the end of the ceremony everyone was jostling for Puan Chia's attention. Being an ex student comes in handy here lol. We said our goodbyes, without tears thankfully. And of course we got a photo with our beloved Puan Chia.

Teacher,
In a time where being an educator is no longer a calling but a mere profession, I just want to thank you for all the ways in which you showed me how to be a better student.
I thank you for being there whenever I needed someone to look up to, to be an example of what I could achieve if I worked hard.
I thank you that by making me a better student, you also made me an infinitely better person.
And I thank you, Puan Chia Loy Tian, for helping me to be proud to be an MGSian and to stay true to the school for all that it has done for me.
Thank you, Puan Chia, for making MGS the MGS it is now, the one I will remember always.

The best part of the ceremony was singing the school song. I don't know why but I had never been so proud to sing that song and discover that (of course) I still remembered all the lyrics :)

MGS, arise and sing,
Sing and let your voices ring.
In fervent vow and joyous song,
We pledge to be ever true and strong.

To work in love and harmony,
With steadfast faith and loyalty.
For youth, for service we shout and hail,
May truth and justice fore'er prevail.

Onward, onward MGS.
From strength to strength march on always.
With uplift heart, untiring feet,
March to the goal of light and grace.

See, I remember it all :)

Although Puan Chia has left to enjoy her life as a retiree, MGS will indeed remain MGS. As my class teacher Puan Faridah said, "Once you're in MGS, you're in for life". It has a way of etching itself into your heart and never letting go. That is but one thing that makes it the awesomest school ever :D

Onward, onward MGS. We'll miss you, Puan Chia.....

Boredom abounds

Well unsurprisingly sitting at home with nothing to do whatsoever brought upon cascades of boredom with no relief :S

Okay fine I'm exaggerating I do get occasional temporary relief from boredom :) If not I would have gone insane by now I'm sure.

I'm not sure what I'm here to blog about by the way, I just felt the urge to update suddenly :S

Soooooooooooo..................

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm..........

Wow I've just been too freaking lifeless to have anything to blog about :S

Oh I went ice skating for the first time last Monday :) I was surprised that I only fell twice and that was quite acceptable I think. Definitely nowhere near Vimal's proud record of..what was it again? 16 falls I think :) Gotta wonder how the hell he stepped into the rink after that lol.

Oh something weird happened. I was doing kiiiiiiinda fine on my own at first. Not stable at all obviously but wasn't falling or anything. Then when I had support pulak I fell lol. And who else might that support have been from but Qades LOL. I suppose he was having a bit of a deja vu moment but I assured him that my coccyx was fine and most definitely still straight :)

Other than that.....no way I'm talking about New Year.......Christmas was like a long time ago and there's too much to tell.......

Wow I guess this lame post is all I can get out for a while :S

Sorry people I am freakishly uninspired right now.

I'll blog again when I have something meaningful to pass on lol :)

Fun filled Sunday

Sunday was fun :)

I suppose the real fun started the night before though lol.

Anyway, we all went to church as usual. Sat through service as usual. The only servers were me, sis and Joash as usual. Dad's sermon shocked the crap out of me when at one point he suddenly said "That's cool, man! That's really cool!". I just turned and stared at my sister and she was giggling while I just stared in awed disbelief :S Joash was obviously not paying attention as usual. He was busy dreaming away.

So everything was going pretty much normally :) After service as usual I went looking for food cause as usual I was late in the morning and didn't have breakfast. I was innocently eating my tuna sandwich when I suddenly caught a glimpse of Jamie's new red hair. Or at least that's what it looked like. She told me it was supposed to be purple ;p The only person I know who can pull off that colour la :)

So we had absolutely nothing to do. Just hanging around and talking, talking, talking as we normally do. Then Jamie and Joash decided to go to McD and get us all something to eat. Then we were all just hanging around waiting with nothing to do. Oh but one shock I got was when Sandra citti came and told me that I have to sing a SOLO of Oh Holy Night, which is like the most difficult solo for vocally challenged people like me, on a MIKE in front of the WHOLE church next Sunday :S It's for the Christmas play that the Sunday School kids are gonna be putting up. I probably should have gotten an advanced warning about this :S The horror of it. I've already started praying that I don't go off key or lose my breath. Fingers crossed.

Then carolling practice started :)

We were all eating McD's over-salted and over-fried and over-calory-filled food before practice started :) Is it a tradition that at this time of year we all become food obsessed pigs? Oh wait, thats the case for the rest of the year too. Hehe

Practice was fun :) I always enjoy carolling practice. Oh but Jamie was like majorly stressed out. We were walking on eggshells around her man :S hehe. Ok it wasn't that bad I'm just exaggerating :) But yeah, regardless, practice was great :)

After that was over we went for the band practice for the Christmas party. Actually we didn't practice much, or at all :) It was just Matt (our Musician GOD) teaching Joash and Edgar how to play the songs. So far they got Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer right and it sounded totally awesome!!

We left church quite late. People are gonna think we're all godly and innocent if we keep this up :S But then again no one in their right mind would describe me as godly and innocent :)

After dropping off Edgar and Tasha, Jamie and Matt came over for a while. Its always so nice to have them in the house.

Oh and for some reason me and Joash kept fighting everywhere-in church, in the car, at carolling practice, at band practice (at home is a given la). Matt kept saying he would love to have a brother and sister like us LOL. And yes I did try to convince him he would get tired of us after about a week or so. In fact, why go so far? Three days would be enough :) Sis tried in vain to get Matt to take us away lol.

Oh and when they came to the house the pigging out started again. There was ONE packet of fried rice at home to be shared among FIVE people. Do the math, it ain't enough even to make me half full. So after we finished the rice me and Jamie pigged out on Maggi Mee. What can I say? We were hungry :S

Finally, I went next door to play Hannah and Beth's Wii for a while with them after Jamie and Matt left. Hannah had me beat at every single sport we played :S She's good. oh and have I mentioned that Hannah, and EIGHT year old, and I are the same shoe size? :S Damn...

When I was about to leave my keys suddenly disappeared :S Me, Hannah, Beth and Auntie Judi were all practically crawling all over the living room looking for them. I still think Beth hid it somewhere lol. Nah she wouldn't la actually. But then again....

So they convinced me to stay for dinner. A PASTA dinner. And the portion was really big too. Imagine how overly huge I felt when I got home :(

But hey who's complaining? :) I enjoyed myself anyway. It was a really good day and I just felt happy at the end of it. So yeah I had to blog about it :)

Maybe it's just the Christmas spirit catching on :)

A Heartfelt, Post Traumatic Thank You

About five months ago, this album called Post Traumatic was released. Three months ago, I went to Bangkok to watch Mike Shinoda perform...
